5 Months Old

This has been a big month for Grace. So many changes!

We started Grace on some solid food earlier this month. She has 2 "real" meals a day, breakfast and dinner. She loves bananas, so for now we're mixing all her meals with some banana. Banana and sweet potato anyone? She enjoys eating, but I think it's mostly because it's an interesting activity...new tastes, a spoon to play with, and a bib around her neck. I'm not sure how much she's actually swallowing, but it's fun for both of us.

I'm making some simple baby food for Grace. Bananas, sweet potatoes, and avocado. This little container makes freezing pureed baby food so easy. Here's a batch of sweet potato ready to go in the freezer.

We had our first (and maybe only) snow of the winter a couple weeks ago. Joe was able to stay home that day and we stayed cozy and warm inside. Just one quick visit outdoors to brave the snow and ice and take this picture.

Grace is sitting now, with some help from the boppy pillow. It's amazing to watch her learn a new skill. It's almost as if she conducts her own little experiments: What happens if a lean this way? Can I reach that toy from here? It's cool to watch the learning process go on right in front of me. And she seems to be learning so fast!

During playtime, Grace loves rocking out in her excersaucer...

...and looking at Jack. When we ask her, "Where's Jack?" she looks around for him. It's sweet. Grace has just started reaching out to grab Jack. Jack thinks that isn't too sweet. :) But he tolerates it.

We love you, sweet girl, and are so glad you're in our family!
