Happy Labor Day

This Labor Day weekend, our Sunday brunch tradition continues!

I'll admit, seeing so many chain restaurants and strip malls near our apartment in Durham has left us reminiscing about the one-of-a-kind shops in Manhattan. But, as we learned this weekend, the things we loved about New York (city walks, unique characters, love of life) can be found in any town--if you know where to look.

We spent Sunday afternoon in downtown Chapel Hill enjoying the back-to-school excitement as students geared up for the fall semester. Brunch at 411 West (a popular Italian cafe on Franklin Street) then a long walk through downtown Chapel Hill and UNC's campus allowed me to enjoy what I miss about New York--with a Southern flavor.

Back patio at 411 West. We ate at the back, right table.

Keeping a blog this summer turned out to be a real treat for us. We love looking back over all the pictures, arranged like a giant time line, and remembering the fun. It looks like we may keep the blog up for a while longer...
